Owner managed
restaurants, traditional pubs, homely cafes, take away food for
those on the move, the Saddleworth area has plenty to satisfy those
in need of sustenance and refreshment.
From the White Hart in Lydgate, “one of nine Commended Restaurants
in The Good Food Guide 2002”, and the Church Inn, brewing
the famous cheapest pint in England, “Saddleworth More”;
to 'Diggle Chippy' and their legendary “Rag Puddings”,
and the 'Butty Box' on the A62 layby between Scouthead and
Delph, the choice of good food is superb. Tea and cakes complete
an idyllic sunny afternoon and can be found in many of the villages.
Children are welcome virtually everywhere.
